DESCRIPTION:The Decentralised Web (DW) has recently seen a renewed momentu
 m\, with a number of DW platforms like Mastodon and PeerTube gaining incre
 asing traction. These offer alternatives to traditional 'centralised' soci
 al networks like Twitter and YouTube by enabling the operation of web infr
 astructure and services without centralised ownership or control. They do\
 , however\, raise a number of key challenges related to performance\, secu
 rity and resilience. In this seminar\, I will present a measurement study 
 of the DW\, and discuss our empirical exploration of some of the key chall
 enges in this area. The presentation is based on a ACM Internet Measuremen
 t Conference 2019.
