DESCRIPTION:<span>In this talk I will review composition methods for the t
 ime integration of differential equations\,&nbsp\;<br> paying special atte
 ntion to two recent contributions in this area. The first one is the const
 ruction&nbsp\;<br> of a new local error estimator so that the additional c
 omputational effort required is almost insignificant.&nbsp\;<br> The secon
 d one is related to a new family of high-order methods obtained from a bas
 ic symmetric&nbsp\;<br> (symplectic) scheme in such a way that they are ti
 me-symmetric (symplectic) only up to a certain order.</span><br><br><br><b
