DESCRIPTION:We present HomeMaestro\, a distributed system for monitoring\n
 and instrumentation of home networks. HomeMaestro\nperforms extensive meas
 urements at the host level to infer\napplication network requirements\, an
 d identifies network related\nproblems through time-series analysis. By sh
 aring\nand correlating information across hosts in the home network\,\nour
  system automatically detects and resolves contention\nover network resour
 ces among applications based\non predefined policies. Finally\, HomeMaestr
 o implements\na distributed virtual queue to enforce those policies by pri
 oritizing\napplications without additional assistance from network\nequipm
 ent such as routers or access points. We outline\nthe challenges in managi
 ng home networks\, describe\nthe design choices and architecture of our sy
 stem\, and highlight\nthe performance of HomeMaestro components in typical
 \nhome scenarios.\n
