DESCRIPTION:In many astrophysical systems\, such as accretion flows around
black hole \nbinaries\, the infalling gas is very hot and dilute. In thes
e hot flows\, \nthe plasma is fully ionized and magnetic fields are dynami
cally \nimportant. In particular\, the dynamics becomes anisotropic with h
eat and \nmomentum being transported primarily along magnetic field lines.
This \ngives rise to a number of instabilities\, such as the magneto-ther
mal \ninstability\, that can substantially modify the physical properties
of \nthe system and lead it to a highly turbulent state.\n
