DESCRIPTION:This talk addresses the modeling of delamination processes in
elastic solids \nusing an internal delamination variable with a rate-indep
endent\, unidirectional evolution law. \nThis covers models for brittle\,
 Griffith-type delamination\, which describe sharp \ncracks in terms of a n
on-smooth constraint confining displacement jumps across \ninterfaces to t
he null set of the delamination variable\, as well as adhesive contact mod
els\, \nwhich regularize this constraint by a finite surface energy contri
bution. \nA notion of solution suited for non-smooth PDE-systems of couple
 d rate-dependent and rate-independent dynamics introduced. \nExistence res
ults for the delamination models are deduced. \nIn this context\, for a vi
scoelastic solid with dynamic effects\, \nthe limit passage from models fo
r adhesive contact to brittle\, Griffith-type delamination is discussed in
the sense of evolutionary Gamma-convergence. \nFine properties of the sol
utions are established by studying a simplified model.
