DESCRIPTION:Ptychography is a lensless X-ray diffraction microscopy techni
que [1\,2] in which the sample is scanned at pre-defined positions collect
ing far-field diffraction patterns at each of these scanning positions. Th
e diffraction patterns along with the information regarding the scan posit
ions are then processed using iterative phase retrieval algorithms resulti
ng in high resolution complex transmission\nfunction of the sample. The co
mplex X-ray probe function incident on the sample is also reconstructed al
ong with the sample’s transmission function [2]. Ptychography can be com
bined with tomography in order to obtain high resolution\, phase contrast
3D transmission function of the sample [5]. Ptychography has shown to be c
 apable of achieving high 2D ( 17 nm [3]) as well as 3D (16 nm [4]) resolut
 ions.
