DESCRIPTION:The 2010 blowout of the Macondo Well in the Gulf of Mexico cau
 sed the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon and an uncontrolled petroleum rel
 ease to the deep Ocean that lasted for three months.  I will present a com
 bination of scientific findings\, personal observations\, and lessons in m
 edia engagement\, stemming from my experience with this event.  I will sha
 re my experiences on site during the spill and in its aftermath\, the pres
 sures that come with conducting scientific research in the midst of a mult
 inational catastrophe\, and the progression of the event from active spill
  to legal aftermath.
