DESCRIPTION:This talk will provide an overview and motivation for Regge ca
 lculus (RC).  We will highlight our insights into unique features of build
 ing GR on a discrete geometry in regards to structure preservation\, and h
 ighlight some relative strengths and weaknesses of RC.  We will review som
 e numerical applications of RC\, including our more recent work on discret
 e Ricci flow.
