  from antiquity to today have conceptualised the notion of ‘the end of t
 he world’ in theological terms - from the idea that planetary death is a
  punishment sent from God for human sins or a self-wrought disaster brough
 t on by heedless consumption. Is the way the current climate debate is bei
 ng framed anything new? How do we know that the order of change in the nat
