DESCRIPTION:What is ptychography\, and why should we be interested?\n\nIma
ging very small objects often involves using high energy or short waveleng
th beams\, such as X-rays\, which are difficult to focus. As a result\, ra
ther than images\, experimenters often collect diffraction patterns\, whic
h record the intensity of the Fourier transform of the image.\n\nThe recon
struction of the image from the diffraction pattern is non-unique\, becaus
e the phase information has been lost. However by combining multiple overl
apping images in real space\, it is possible to obtain a further constrain
t\, which makes image reconstruction feasible.\n\nThis talk will introduce
the topic\, and show an example of some of the challenges of converting a
n existing Python script to C++ and running on a HPC.
