DESCRIPTION:Monte Carlo (MC) event generators are essential in much of col
lider physics\, as a key component to relate experimentally measured varia
bles to the parameters of the underlying theory that we wish to probe. In
this talk I will give a short review of Monte Carlo generators\, their re
cent developments and then show fascinating interplay between proton struc
ture functions (PDF) and MC event generators predictions. This talk sets o
ut an approach for design of PDF in a novel\, so-called Monte Carlo factor
isation scheme which is tailored to exactly fit the PS MC generators. The
approach is illustrated by applying it to relevant processes at the LHC.
