DESCRIPTION:Obesity is increasing on an epidemic scale in the developed wo
 rld\, and its associated morbidity and mortality pose one of the greatest 
 health challenges of the 21st century. The problem has a high media profil
 e and yet there is still confusion and uncertainty about how best to manag
 e the problem at both a public health and an individual level. Dr Haslam w
 ill describe the issues and challenges\, and recommend some actions.\n\nDr
  Haslam is a GP with a special interest in obesity and cardiometabolic dis
 ease. He is Physician in Obesity Medicine at the Centre for Obesity Resear
 ch at Luton & Dunstable Hospital\, and Clinical Director of the National O
 besity Forum (NOF) in the UK. He writes and speaks internationally on obes
 ity and related diseases. His books include Your Questions Answered – Ob
 esity in the popular YQA series\, and his next major work is a book on the
  history of obesity\, gluttony and sloth\, due to be published shortly.
