DESCRIPTION:Following a pedagogical introduction to yield stress fluids\,
three recent \nresearch results on this topic will be presented. The first
concerns the \ndynamics of dense athermal suspensions in the absence of f
low: here we \nfind non-trivial power-law ageing and coarsening dynamics\,
in a system \nthat had previously been assumed to jam up exponentially qu
ickly following \nsample preparation. The second concerns the bulk behavio
ur of yield stress \nfluids as they yield from an initially solid-like to
 a finally fluid-like \nstate. Here we demonstrate a smooth cross-over from
ductile to \nbrittle-like yielding behaviour as a function of paramaters
characterising \nthe initial sample prepration (age\, cooling rate\, annea
ling temperature) \nand imposed shear rate\, without the need for a `criti
cal point' as \nsuggested in the recent literature. The third concerns wa
ll slip\, which \nin experimental practice often dominates the rheological
response of yield \nstress fluids. Here we present a novel simulation tec
hnique capable of \nfully resolving elastohydrodynamic slip at the wall\,
coupled with bulk \ndynamics\, and present its predictions for slip-domina
 ted rheology.\n
