DESCRIPTION:At a time of heightening tension between NATO and Iran an unde
rstanding of the methods Tehran uses to confront her regional and internat
ional adversaries has increased importance. John Raine will be speaking ab
out recent research on Iran and it’s Networks of Influence conducted by
the IISS which addresses several important questions. This discussion is a
preview of the report\, due to be published in November. How does Iran pr
oject its influence and fight its wars? What defines its strategies and wh
at is the leadership's risk appetite and limits? Iran’s doctrine and cap
abilities have significance both for the outcome of current conflicts and
for the future political geography of the region. What does the new region
al balance of power look like? And what lessons can be learned by those po
wers confronting and seeking to contain Iran? These are important question
s both for the formation of counter strategies and for an understanding of
the evolving regional balance of power.\n\nAbout the speaker:\n\nJohn Rai
