DESCRIPTION:The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISD
 L) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretari
 at (UNFCCC) willl hold a Workshop on International Law & Governance Contri
 butions to the Implementation of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement with a special
  focus on Investment and Oceans.\n\nThe workshop will take place as a half
 -day long event to present viewpoints of leading international and nationa
 l legal experts in the spheres of climate change impacts in investments an
 d oceans.\n\nThe workshop with consist of the following two panels: \n\n1)
  Panel discussions of the application of the Paris Agreement and Katowice 
 Rulebook to date\, focusing on advancing ambition and compliance on climat
 e change as well as governance accomplishments and changes\; and\n\n2) Pan
 el discussions focusing on Climate Law & Governance Innovations for Sustai
 nable Investment & Resilient Oceans\, with expert presentations on these i
 nterrelationships. These topics\, which are heavily linked in terms of pol
 icy and practice at many levels\, are the subject of discussion due to the
 ir importance in the post-Paris Agreement and Katowice Rulebook internatio
 nal community and for the upcoming policy discussions and decisions to occ
 ur at the UNFCCC CoP 25 in Santiago\, Chile in December 2019. During the p
 anels\, experts will review the working papers generated by the CISDL-UNFC
 CC team as well as presenting their own areas of work and experience.\n\nT
 he goal of this workshop is to bring together leading experts\, researcher
 s\, academics and other key actors to identify the critical issues in each
  of the topic areas. The workshop will aim to provide a thorough understan
 ding of the issues facing global and national communities at CoP25 and bey
 ond while also providing a sense of direction to move the dialogue surroun
 ding these issues forward.
