DESCRIPTION:It is accepted that self sustaining states exist in duct flow
past a threshold value of the Reynolds number\, which rely on the nonlinea
r coupling between vortices\, streaks and travelling waves. In this work w
e have devised an optimisation strategy that aims at maximising the energy
of the travelling disturbance wave\, and thus at enhancing the nonlinear
terms that feed back onto vortices and streaks.
