DESCRIPTION: \nMuch attention has been devoted to how ideational and ideol
ogical paradigm shifts in the field of housing and land-use planning have
been adopted in a context of changes in finance and governance. In diverse
political contexts\, the reduction of direct provision by public provider
s has led to the creation of new kinds of ‘affordable products’ that a
re typically tailored to middle-income households but do not match low-inc
ome needs. \nWhat is the relevance of requiring on-site affordable housing
provision as part of general market developments and as a condition of pl
anning approval? Which planning tools have been used to secure the provisi
on of affordable housing? What has been accomplished so far? \nThis talk p
resents some of the findings of the project PLANning for AFFordable HOusin
g (PLANAFFHO)\, which is funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research and In
novation programme\, and compares three capital cities: London\, Copenhage
 n\, and Lisbon \n
