DESCRIPTION:*PROJECT OVERVIEW*\nWith a view to informing the work of the U
N Human Rights Committee in drafting General Comment 37 on the right of pe
aceful assembly (Article 21 ICCPR)\, the European Centre for Non-Profit La
w (ECNL) is working together with the Centre of Governance & Human Rights
(CGHR) at the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia La
w School to convene an expert workshop focusing on the potential for exerc
ising this right online. This workshop will be held at the CGHR on 2-3 Dec
ember 2019.\n\nECNL\, UEA Law School and CGHR are recruiting a small team
of researchers to undertake a broad review of relevant materials and produ
ce a substantive online ‘Research Pack’. This will be made available t
o workshop participants and members of the UN Human Rights Committee. The
research team will also produce a short briefing note to help frame the fi
 nal Workshop agenda.\n\n*More details here:*\nhttps://www.cghr.polis.cam.a
 c.uk/news/freedom_of_assembly_online\n\n*TIMING/COMMITMENT*\nThe Research
Team will be convened in late-October\, and individual responsibilities as
signed shortly afterwards. From this point\, the time commitment required
will probably be in the region of 4-5 hrs per week. Submission of the brie
fing note and final contributions to the Research Pack will be required by
25 November 2019.\n\n*APPLICATIONS*\nApplicants will ideally be graduate
 students (M.Phil.\, L.L.M.\, Ph.D.). A research interest in international
human rights law and/or technology/social media would be well-suited.\n\nP
lease send a letter of motivation and a short CV to Eleanor Salter (eas92@
 cam.ac.uk) before 9am on Friday 25 October 2019.\n\nSuccessful applicants
will be invited to an initial planning meeting\, at which individual respo
nsibilities within the project will be discussed. Because of the large num
ber of applicants anticipated and the short timescale involved\, regrettab
ly only successful applicants will be contacted.\n
