DESCRIPTION:I will describe the cloning and characterisation of a previous
 ly uncharacterised endoplasmic reticulum bound protein Fam38\, which is\nd
 ownregulated in lung cancer cell lines and downregulation  transforms bron
 chial epithelial cells. Fam38 activates integrins via R-Ras\, mediating ca
 lcium mobilisation and calpain activation  demonstrating a novel pathway f
 or integrin activation via the ER.
