DESCRIPTION:A common theme in model theory is to fix a mathematical struct
ure exhibiting some notion of tameness for definable sets\, and study expa
nsions of that structure by new definable sets which preserve this tamenes
 s. Examples include the study of stable expansions of the complex field an
d o-minimal expansions of the real field\, both of which have led to spect
acular applications of model theory to other areas of mathematics. In this
talk\, I will discuss several results on classifying tame expansions of t
he group of integers (and other "weakly minimal" groups).
