DESCRIPTION:A neural network tool was used to discover a new nickel-base a
 lloy for\ndirect laser deposition most likely to satisfy targets of\nproce
 ssability\, cost\, density\, phase stability\, creep resistance\,\noxidati
 on\, fatigue life\, and resistance to thermal stresses. The neural\nnetwor
 k tool can learn property-property relationships\, which allows it\nto use
  a large database of weldability measurements to guide the\nextrapolation 
 of just ten data entries of alloy processability. The\ntool was used to pr
 opose a new alloy\, and experimental testing confirms\nthat the physical p
 roperties of the proposed alloy are better tailored\nto the target applica
 tion than other commercially available alloys.
