DESCRIPTION:If we want to educate and support the professional development
  of high quality physics teachers\, are we clear as to what they look like
 ? James will share his research exploring the views of those within and ar
 ound the physics teaching community in England. Teachers\, secondary schoo
 l students and other stakeholders were surveyed to gain a fuller understan
 ding of what they perceive a ‘good’ physics teacher to be. Combining t
 hese findings and the existing literature in this field\, James will exami
 ne what this might mean for initial teacher education and early career sup
 port for physics teachers.
