DESCRIPTION:We consider fixed-rate transmission over a delay-constrained w
 ireless channel with an arbitrary input distribution. We derive the optima
 l power allocation algorithms for peak\, average and peak-to-average power
  constraints. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the error probability f
 or large signal-to-noise ratio and we illustrate the large gains possible 
 with power allocation.\n
