DESCRIPTION:In the frame of this year’s International Day for the Elimin
 ation of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)\, commemorated on the 25t
 h of November\, and in line with the University’s strike action\, we hav
 e decided to raise our voice\, take a stand\, and join efforts with the gl
 obal mobilisations to address VAWG and GBV. \n\nTo achieve this purpose\, 
 a panel discussion with specialists working at the University of Cambridge
  on topics related to the ripples of VAWG across time and spaces\, from ur
 ban violence in different regions to sexual misconduct in higher education

 tities welcome!_\n\n*Panellists:*\n\n*Dr Manali Desai*\, Reader in Sociolo
 gy at the University of Cambridge. Dr Desai’s research encompasses the a
 reas of state formation\, political parties\, social movements\, developme
 nt\, ethnic violence\, gender and post-colonial studies. Her research incl
 udes topics related to gender and sexual violence in urban and peri-urban 
 India and South Africa.\n\n*Dr Tiffany Page*\, Lecturer in Sociology at th
 e University of Cambridge specialising in social inequalities. In 2016 Tif
 fany co-founded The 1752 Group\, a research and lobby organisation that wo
 rks at a national level to address staff-student sexual misconduct in the 
 UK higher education sector. \n\n*Dr Holly Porter*\, Lecturer in Gender Stu
 dies at the University of Cambridge. Dr Porter’s research has focused on
  gender\, sexualities\, violence\, and local notions of healing and justic
 e in northern Uganda where she has lived for more than ten years. Previous
 ly\, she has worked in South Sudan\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Azerbaijan\,
  and Palestine in the fields of access to justice\, gender-based violence\
 , transitional justice\, peacebuilding and human rights.\n\n*Ilaria Michel
 is*\, PhD student in Sociology (under the supervision of Dr Desai) at the 
 University of Cambridge. She has worked for over 10 years in humanitarian 
 response focusing on preventing and providing services to survivors of VAW
 G in various countries.
