DESCRIPTION:\nORG Cambridge & Cambridge University Trust & Technology Init
iative present a special event exploring Brexit's implications for UK life
online.\n\nSpeakers\n\nJavier Ruiz - Policy Director at Open Rights Group
\n\nJavier will explain how post-Brexit international trade deals with the
United States and other countries could impact UK rights online. Trade ag
reements increasingly include clauses to promote digital trade\, which unf
ortunately tend to translate into weakening the protection of the personal
data of ordinary people and increasing the protections on the algorithms
and trade secrets of businesses. Entering these agreements will put the UK
in a difficult position as it strives to maintain the current arrangement
s for data flows with the EU.\n\n\nMike Morel - Campaigns Manager at Open
Rights Group\n\nMike will provide an overview of EU laws and institutions
that currently influence UK rights to free speech online and digital priva
cy. Find out which protections will disappear\, which will remain\, and wh
at could happen in a no-deal scenario.\n\nAttendance is free. All are welc
 ome!
