DESCRIPTION:Academic and Attorney-at-Law Cornel Marian will be telling the
  extraordinary story of Dutch Jews who\, having survived World War II conc
 entration camps\, returned to Amsterdam to find themselves liable for back
 -taxes. Cornel will use the story to explore his wider area of research\, 
 which concerns the extent of a State's power to tax.\nCornel initially too
 k a BA in Economics at Boston University\, before gaining a law degree and
  qualifying as a lawyer in the USA. He has an LLM from Stockholm Universit
 y and is currently completing a PhD at the University of Frankfurt.\nNo pr
 ior knowledge of taxation is necessary in order to attend the talk.
