DESCRIPTION:Green's functions are ubiquitous throughout physics and applie
d mathematics. I will discuss some the history surrounding them\, includin
g Green's "physical" proof of the existence of the Dirichlet Green's funct
ion for the Laplacian. After this I'll move onto fundamental solutions for
constant coefficient partial differential operators and some proofs of th
e Malgrange–Ehrenpreis theorem. I hope to keep technicalities to a minim
 um\, so all welcome.
