tery electrodes - Dr Michael De Volder\, IfM\, CUED

DESCRIPTION:Research in the field of micro and nanotechnology has led to t
he development of materials with fundamentally new or improved functionali
ty\, which have the potential to revolutionise electronics\, drug delivery
\, water purification\, and energy storage. These scientific discoveries c
an help address many of the grand challenges our society is facing. Howeve
r\, to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by these materials
better techniques are needed to control their microscale and nanoscale ar
rangements\, for instance to optimise transport processes. In this talk I
will discuss such techniques for Li-Ion battery applications with a partic
ular focus on hierarchical structuring of materials at the macro\, micro a
 nd nanoscale.
