DESCRIPTION:We will talk about  the determination of the 5-modular charact
 er table of the sporadic simple Lyons  group Ly. This table was computed j
 ointly with Alexander Ryba\, Queens College\,  CUNY\, New York. As a start
 ing point of our computations we will  take the 111-dimensional representa
 tion over the field with 5 elements\, conjectured to exist by Meyer\, Neut
 sch and constructed by Meyer\, Neutsch\, and Parker. An important ingredie
 nt in our computations will be the interplay between modular character the
 ory and the theory of condensation of representations\, in particular cond
 ensations of tensor products and symmetrizations.
