 *\, will deliver the 2009 Travers Smith Lecture.   \n\nRoberta is the firs
 t woman to serve in that office in its 85-year history. The Institute’s 
 founding charter stated its purpose to be “to promote the clarification 
 and simplification of the law and its better adaptation to social needs\, 
 to secure the better administration of justice\, and to encourage and carr
 y on scholarly and scientific legal work.” \n\nThe Institute has an outs
 tanding record in achieving its aims\, and its work profoundly influences 
 the development of law in the United States and many of its publications h
 ave been accorded an authority comparable to that accorded to judicial dec
 isions.\n\nRoberta will speak on the subject of professional ethics and bu
 siness practice.\n
