DESCRIPTION:Filaments are dense collections of plasma that exit the main b
ody of plasma in a Tokamak fusion reactor and may collide with the reactor
's walls.\nThese are undesirable and are the result of little understood t
urbulence in the plasma. Recently\, an analytic model was developed to st
udy the motion of individual filaments assuming that they are affected det
erministically by their initial velocity and the Tokamak's magnetic fields
. In this project\, the effects of stochastic velocity and density fields
to the movement of plasma filaments was then studied in the context of le
arning more about plasma turbulence such that future reactor designs can b
e made more stable.\n\nWe present a broad overview of the history and curr
ent state of fusion research\, together with the world's energy requiremen
ts to provide context\, before explaining the model and the results that h
 ave been gathered thus far.
