DESCRIPTION:This talk will be about the general structure of spectral theo
 ry on stationary spacetimes.\nI will state some classical results of spect
 ral geometry for compact Riemannian manifolds\nand compare these to the th
 eory on stationary spatially compact globally hyperbolic spacetimes.\nI wi
 ll state two trace-formulae that show how classical motion in curved backg
 round describes various limits\nof spectral theory on these spacetimes.\n(
