DESCRIPTION:The High-Luminosity LHC is due to switch on in 2027\, and prom
ises around a factor of 10 increase in the integrated luminosity allowing
measurements and potentially observations of rare processes such as di-Hig
gs production. In order to cope with the increased interaction rate and ra
diation the CMS experiment is upgrading its end-cap calorimeters with a ne
w High-Granularity Calorimeter (HGCal). I will describe the geometry and c
omposition of the new detector\, how particles are reconstructed within it
and also how HGCal contributes to the overall CMS level-1 trigger.
