DESCRIPTION:The goal of this talk is to give a brief introduction to some 
 aspects of\nthe theory of semi-simple Lie groups and its links to ergodic 
 theory. In\nparticular\, I will explain a result due to A.Eskin and C.McMu
 llen about\ncounting integral points on homogeneous varieties of negative\
 ncurvature. To do so\, I will talk about various decompositions\, mixing\n
 and the Howe-Moore property.
