DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will present a particle system that encapsulate
 s a simple notion of contagion\, and whose mean-field limit turns out to b
 e intimately related to the Stefan problem for supercooled liquids (in one
  dimension). In particular\, we will explore the presence of fragile state
 s for the mean field limit\, which leads to interesting questions of regul
 arity and (non-)uniqueness as well as a selection rule for global existenc
 e that allows for the ''correct'' resolution of the fragile states.
