DESCRIPTION:Restorative justice based interventions in criminal justice ha
ve expanded rapidly and are increasingly viewed as a legitimate\, and even
superior means of delivering justice. The result of this swift but piecem
eal development has been that restorative justice practice has outpaced th
e development of restorative justice theory. This seminar takes up this ch
allenge by reimagining a new framework for the operation of restorative ju
stice within criminal justice. In essence\, it is contended that core empo
wering values of agency and accountability provide a lens for re-imagining
how restorative justice should work and the normative goals it ought to e
 ncompass
