DESCRIPTION:Offshore structures\, from conventional oil & gas platforms to
  offshore renewable energy devices\, are subjected to loads from ocean wav
 es. Both ocean waves and wave-structure interactions show strong nonlinear
 ity. This talk will discuss some interesting observations in wave-structur
 e interactions\, i.e. from linear to quartic nonlinearities. Cutting-edge 
 sciences in wave-structure interactions are identified through internation
 al collaborations. This talk will show how these studies have been adopted
  by offshore industry and impacting engineering practice.
