DESCRIPTION:How should we plan for future conflicts over access and resour
 ces in the High North? A panel discussion with the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell 
 MP\,  Dr Michael Bravo\, Scott Polar Research Institute and Charles Claypo
 ole (Partner at International Law firm Latham & Watkins)\, chaired by Prof
 essor Brendan Simms.  The panel will present the results of a strategic si
 mulation conducted with students for the MPhil in International Relations\
 , to explore the factors which will influence geopolitical decisions in th
 e next five years\, including the changing political landscape (domestical
 ly and internationally post Brexit)\, defence and deterrence\, the likely 
 effects of climate change\, culture and local rights\, and how this fits i
 nto currently existing international legal structures. The event will high
 light the breadth of interlocking issues which will pose challenges for po
 licymakers in the near future.
