DESCRIPTION:Learning from examples is a powerful paradigm for aquiring mot
or\nskills in biological (human) systems. In this talk I will examine the\
npossibility of learning control in artificial systems using modern\nproba
bilistic models from machine learning. The focus of the talk will\nbe the
learning process itself\, and I will demonstrate very fast\nlearning from
no prior knowledge in a cart and pole balancing\nproblem. Technically\, ou
r approach is based on reinterpreting control\nas a problem of statistical
inference\, and we show that the proper\,\nBayesian\, treatment of uncert
ainty is crucial to the success of the\nmethod.\n\nThe talk is based on on
-going research in collaboration with "Marc\nP. Deisenroth":http://mlg.eng
