s before talk.\n\nRecent advancements and technological breakthroughs in t
he development of so-called immersive interfaces such as Virtual Reality (
VR) coupled with the growing mass-market adaptation of such devices has st
arted to attract attention from both academia and industry alike. VR is a
term interchangeably used to denote goggles or head-mounted displays (HMDs
) that transport their user to a fully immersive\, 3D Virtual Reality envi
ronment (VRE). Coupling VREs with visual analytics has spun-off a new fiel
d of research\, i.e. immersive visual analytics\, that leverages the poten
tial bestowed by immersive interfaces to aid the user in swift and effecti
ve data analysis. One of the most promising fields of application of such
immersive interfaces in the industry are various branches of engineering\,
including aerospace and aeronautical design and in civil engineering. The
range of potential applications is vast and growing as new stakeholders a
re adapting these immersive tools. However\, the use of these technologies
has its own challenges. For instance\, it is possible for the VRE to caus
e the "simulation sickness" symptoms among the users. Another difficulty i
n the selection of an appropriate interaction technique which may vary not
only due to the available hardware but also the users’ prior experience
\, the task at hand or the visualized dataset. To this end\, in this talk\
, we will discuss examples of the design and application of various intera
ction techniques in VR for industrial visual analytics. These examples inc
lude (1) the AeroVR system for aerospace design in VR\, (2) digital twinni
ng and prognosis for aeronautics in VR\, (3) abstract data visualization u
sing an immersive version of the Parallel Coordinates Plots (IPCP)\, (4) a
nd information capture in the context of an engineering survey of a photo-
realistic model of an existing structure in VR.\n\nThis seminar will be ho
