s ‘thalamic control of cortex’ presented by Guillaume Hennequin and Fl
avia Mancini.\n\nThe thalamus has long been regarded as a mere relay stati
on for sensory afferents\, with relay to cortex possibly modulated by top-
down cortical inputs. However\, a new view is emerging\, backed by experim
ents e.g. in the Halassa group\, according to which the thalamus entrains
with the cortex in order to regulate cortical dynamics\, thus supporting c
ognitive flexibility. We will give a brief introduction to the thalamus\,
and review some of this recent literature with an attempt to connect it to
a few existing models of cortical modulation.\n\nSome relevant refs:\n- h
