DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, multiband EPI sequences have become increasi
ngly popular for fMRI studies. This technique allows for multiple slices t
o be acquired simultaneously\, resulting in faster acquisition times. Mult
iband acquisitions were initially made popular by the Human Connectome Pro
ject\, and at first glance they provided a significant improvement in temp
oral resolution\, without any costs in terms of signal quality. However\,
some recent studies looking at task-based fMRI applications have suggested
there is a price to be paid for acquisition speed. In this talk I will re
view some recent multiband studies\, highlighting the advantages and also
the potential drawbacks of using multiband in task-based fMRI research.
