DESCRIPTION:Application environments dealing with sensitive information re
quire mechanisms to define the circumstances for data disclosure. In event
-based environments\, access control typically concerns messages(events) a
s they occur. However\, scenarios exist in which the retrieval of historic
al information is required. The publish/subscribe\nparadigm decouples prod
ucers from consumers\, where information from numerous sources can satisfy
an information request (subscription).\nThese sources may be unknown to s
ubscribers. This paper describes a unified approach for managing the discl
osure of both historical and future events. We show\, with the aid of heal
thcare scenarios\, how\ncontext and access mechanisms can be used for fine
-grained control over the circumstances for information disclosure.\n\n(Pr
 actice talk for MidSec 2008)
