DESCRIPTION:Sharon Morris\, Senior Lecturer at the Slade School of Fine Ar
 t\, responds to Judy Chicago’s Suite of prints illustrating the Song of 
 Songs through poetry. Sharon was born in west Wales and studied at the Sla
 de School of Fine Art\, University College London\, where she is currently
  a senior lecturer. She has exhibited photography\, film and video\, and s
 he has performed her live artworks\, bringing together spoken text and pro
 jections\, in London and Los Angeles.  Having completed a PhD in 2000 on t
 he relation between words and images\, referring to the writer H.D. and ar
 tist Claude Cahun\, she continues to write on semiotics\, the philosophy o
 f C.S. Peirce\, visual theory and poetics. She received a Leverhulme resea
 rch fellowship in 2003.  Her poems have appeared in several journals and a
 nthologies\, including Tying the Song (Enitharmon)\, A Room to Live In (Sa
 lt) and The Forward Book of Poetry 2008. Her first collection\, False Spri
 ng\, published by Enitharmon Press (2007) was commended by the Forward Pri
 ze and short-listed for the Jerwood Aldeburgh Prize for the best first col
 lection\, 2007.\n
