DESCRIPTION: will introduce a possible universal exfoliation mechanism for
  massive\nproduction of 2D materials from their bulk counterparts. Using f
 irst\nprinciples calculations\, we demonstrate that spontaneous exfoliatio
 n can\nbe induced by introducing holes in layered materials. In contrast t
 o the\nintroduction of exccess electrons and electron-hole pairs\, creatin
 g hole\nstates weakens the interlayer interactions\, leading to layer sepa
 ration.\nOur results may provide a universal route for producing large-are
 a\nmonolayers by controlling their hole concentrations.
