Translation in Cellular Response to Low Oxygen - Dr Niall Kenneth\; Instit

DESCRIPTION:Niall has recently joined the University of Liverpool as a lec
turer in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Cell Signalling after
completing an independent fellowship in Newcastle University. His researc
h is focussed on defining cell signalling pathways that enable cancer cell
s to adapt to hypoxic stress through targeted control of protein translati
on. He will be discussing work ongoing in the lab investigating the role
of the oncoprotein YB-1 in promoting preferential protein translation of k
ey mRNAs in hypoxic tumour cells. He will also describe the genome editing
approaches the lab is currently using to uncouple specific mRNAs from tra
nslational control\, giving insights into the role of preferential protein
translation in the hypoxic tumour environment.\n\n\nJoin us -\nhttps://zo
