DESCRIPTION:So what's wrong with the compound microscope? Not a lot\, but
after 300 years\, inventors Andrew Monk and Richard Williams thought it wo
uld be nice to put a lab quality microscope in your pocket and connect it
to your mobile phone. It turns out that re-engineering the microscope all
ows scientists to carry out important primary research and education in Th
e Amazon\, Antarctica and even on Everest with a 1 micron resolution. In
this talk\, Andrew guides the audience through the development of ioLight'
s Magnificent Mobile Microscope from sketches on beermats to ascending Eve
rest.\n\nAndrew Monk is passionate about transferring technology to the ma
rket and has led startups across a number of disciplines. He founded ioLi
