haracterization of active faults in humid areas is difficult because geomo
rphic expression of faults subdued by rapid weathering and erosion. Indone
sia has many active faults with potential seismic hazards\, but many of th
em are not well studied\, particularly for the inland faults. This mainly
because many of the active faults are diffused and their characterization
is challenging. Most of them are buried by thick sediments or soil and wil
l not detectable until they broke during an earthquake. In this talk\, I w
ill provide an overview of our completed and ongoing active fault studies
in Indonesia. Some of the examples are along the Cimandiri\, Pasuruan\, Ac
eh\, and Palu Koro faults. We implemented various methods including tecton
ic geomorphic mapping\, quantitative geomorphic analysis and paloeseismolo
gy to study these faults. \n\nFurther reading:\nMarliyani\, G. I.\, Arrows
