DESCRIPTION:New developments in electron microscopy and spectroscopy have 
 breathed new life into the study of optical phenomena at sub-wavelength sc
 ales. In this talk\, I will illustrate the interest of these technological
  advances in probing optics at the nanometer scale\, ranging from three-di
 mensional phonon imaging to the study of strong phonon-plasmon coupling an
 d the characterization of optical absorption and emission in TMDs.
