DESCRIPTION:The efficiency of light emitters is limited by loss mechanisms
that are experimentally difficult to probe. I will discuss the theoretica
l advances that are enabling us to quantitatively evaluate the rate of non
radiative processes such as Auger recombination and defect-assisted carrie
r recombination. Our approach allows us to suggest specific strategies for
increasing the efficiency of nitride or halide perovskite light emitters\
, and is also applicable to quantum emitters.
